So, before the Charisma's frenzy begins would like you all to take the time and enjoy some "winter songs", those which really reflect the weather outside our windows(depends on the part of the world you live in). I don't know about you but I surely love to embrace this melancholy atmosphere, put together a winter play list and eat chocolate, lots of chocolate. Sharam Tayebi mans the turntables as one half of the Grammy award winning DJ/production duo Deep Dish. Characterized by a harder style than his partner Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia, Sharam performs as Deep Dish featuring Sharam, when he takes to the road to deliver his signature half of the distinct Deep Dish sound.
In 2006 Sharam released GU29 - Dubai. The compilation was called "a double header CD that kicks the dust outta the dance with its skywards soars, desert storming dirtiness and seductive sensuality.." by DJMAG and it was also said that "Dubai" makes you wish you were in the club enjoying it live. The most talked about and sought after record of 2006 Winter Music Conference in Miami that went on to become one of the stand out records of 2006's Ibiza session, Sharam's 'PATT' (Party All The Time)' made an apt arrival during the height of the Xmas season on Data, which is finished 2006 on a high with another club smash after its recent hits including Supermode's 'Tell Me Why' and Fedde Le Grand's 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit'.

Zach Condon, the young man behind Beirut, after dropping out of college (on the first day, he walked straight to the office and asked for his money back) stayed with a cousin for a while in Amsterdam in a building where "a weird Serbian artist guy" blasted Balkan brass music from his top-floor apartment, driving his neighbors batty -- and providing the spark for what would become Beirut's "Gulag Orkestrar." It's been long since I've stumbled upon something worth watching and posting. Émilie Simon is a multidisciplinary artist; writing, composing and singing in all of her albums. Maybe her name does not ring a bell but the fact that she composed the original soundtrack for Luc Jacquet's documentary film La Marche de l'empereur (March of the Penguins) for which she got the award Best Original Soundtrack at the Césars in 2006, certainly will. What is more, she even toured with Placebo, doing the first part of their tour from 29th of September 2006 until the 4th December 2006. I will take pleasure in this new discovery of mine for days to come :) Hope you will, too.
1965. While "Stranger in Paradise" played, Tony Bennett was having a walk along The Serpentine in Hyde Park in London. If all of this had not been filmed and played by UK and US television stations, Tony wouldn’t have claimed he made the first music video. Only then, music videos were called promos and had the purpose to simply promote. The early age of music videos dates back to the beginning of the last century when "visual music" appeared - the animated films of Oskar Fischinger supplied with orchestral scores. The pioneering full-color music video for The Exciters' "Tell Him" from 1962 greatly influenced all that came afterwards.The defining work in the development of the modern music video was The Beatles' first major motion picture, A Hard Day's Night in 1964, directed by Richard Lester. The musical segments in this film arguably set out the basic visual vocabulary of today's music videos, influencing a vast number of contemporary musicians, and countless subsequent pop and rock group music videos. Also in 1966 the clip of Bob Dylan performing "Subterranean Homesick Blues" filmed by D A Pennebaker was much used.. Other pioneering music videos made during this time include the promotional films made by The Doors. When released in 1968, the animated film Yellow Submarine was an international sensation. Soon it was commonplace for artists to make promotional films, and bands like The Byrds and The Beach Boys were also making promotional films. The promotional clip continued to grow in importance, with television programs such as The Midnight Special and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert mixing concert footage with clips incorporating camera tricks, special effects, and dramatizations of song lyrics. Other important contributions to the development of the genre include the film of the Woodstock Festival, and the various concert films that were made during the early Seventies, most notably Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs And Englishmen and particularly Pink Floyd's groundbreaking Live at Pompeii concert film, which featured sophisticated rhythmic cross-cutting. Also during this time,David Bowie released his video for Space Oddity. Although these "film clips" were often aired on pop music TV shows, they were still considered as secondary at that time, with live or mimed performances generally given precedence.

The Beatles - And I Love Her
A Hard Day's Night in 1964 "And I Love Her" is a song by The Beatles and is the fifth track on their third album, A Hard Day's Night. It was released 20 July 1964 with "If I Fell" as a single by Capitol Records in the United States, reaching #12 in .
"The Unknown Soldier" is the first single from The Doors' 1968 album Waiting for the Sun, and was also the subject of one of the bands few, inventive music videos. ´The song is Jim Morrisons reaction to the Vietnam War and the way this conflict was portrayed in American media at the time.
"All Day and All of the Night" was a hit 1964 rock song by the British Invasion band The Kinks. It reached #2 on the UK Singles Chart and #7 on the United States Charts.
"Paint It, Black" is a song recorded by The Rolling Stones in 1966. It reached number one in both the U.S. and the UK charts. It was released as a single and on the U.S. version of the album, Aftermath.
"Wouldn't It Be Nice" is the opening track on the classic 1966 album Pet Sounds and one of the most widely recognized songs by the American pop group The Beach Boys. It was composed and produced by Brian Wilson, with lyrics by Tony Asher, and the lead vocal was sung by Brian Wilson with Mike Love singing lead vocals on the bridge.
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower "All Along the Watchtower" is a song written by folk-rock singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, which is notable for the number of times it has been covered by different artists in different genres, most famously, The Jimi Hendrix Experience's harder, more dynamic and electric psychedelic rock version from their Electric Ladyland album.
Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues "Subterranean Homesick Blues" is a song written by Bob Dylan, originally released on the album Bringing It All Back Home in March 1965. The following month it was issued as a single, becoming his first Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit and going Top 10 in the UK. It was subsequently re-released on numerous compilations such as Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits (1967). One of Dylan's first 'electric' pieces, "Subterranean Homesick Blues" was also notable for its innovative film clip, which first appeared in D. A. Pennebaker's documentary, Dont Look Back.

The Byrds - Eight miles high "Eight Miles High" is a song by Gene Clark, Jim McGuinn, and David Crosby, first appearing as a single from 1966 by the rock band The Byrds. The single peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was included as well on their album Fifth Dimension, released on July 18, 1966. The Animals - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood “Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Gloria Caldwell and Sol Marcus for the singer/pianist Nina Simone, who first recorded it on Broadway-Blues-Ballads (1964). "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" has been covered by many artists, and is better known to most people by the version performed by The Animals, who turned it into a rock song. This version was ranked by Rolling Stone at #315 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The Mamas And Papas - California Dreamin "California Dreamin'" is a song by The Mamas & the Papas, first released in 1965. The song was written in 1963 by John and Michelle Phillips while they were living in New York, inspired by Michelle's home sickness for California. At the time, the Phillipses were members of the folk group The New Journeymen which evolved into The Mamas and the Papas.
Sonny & Cher- I Got You Babe Sonny Bono, a songwriter and record producer for Phil Spector, wrote the song for himself and his wife, Cher, late at night in their basement. Noted session drummer Hal Blaine performed the drums for the song. Bono was inspired to write the song to capitalize on the popularity of the term "babe," as heard in Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe" which was a hit for The Turtles.

Manfred Mann - Do Wah Diddy Diddy "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" is a song notably performed by 1960s British R&B, Beat and Pop band Manfred Mann. The song was originally performed in 1963 by the American band The Exciters, originally written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. Manfred Mann's version was recorded on June 11 1964, was released on July 10 and spent two weeks in August at number one in the UK singles chart and in October of that year it spent two weeks at the number one spot in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Considering NickCave the ultimate songwriter and his music a divine agony, little space is left for hesitation when it comes to his work particularly his new-fangled venture entitled Grinderman. Like NickCave, the other members are also from The Bad Seeds, Jim Sclavunos, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and they have released their debut in March 2007 for Mute. The following and opening video is for the song “No Pussy Blues” and it exploits the subject of reproduction among animals as well as humans. The Shins new video for the song "Phantom Limb" is directed by Patrick Daughters and features a controversial school play. The song is from their new album "Wincing The Night Away" released on January 23rd 2007.Mercer, the band's singer, songwriter and guitarist, has been shaken up by the demands of their growth and success. After collecting all the rewards for the creative idea behind the "Here It Goes Again" video, even the YouTube best video award they launch their latest video which makes the previous look not-So-creative :) Anyway, the new OK Go video debuted on February the 15th and is pretty awesome. Tankian and Malakian formed the band SOD and in the summer of 1998, System of a Down released their debut album,System of a Down. They enjoyed moderate success with their first single "Sugar becoming a radio favorite, followed by the singles "Spiders" and "War?". The group's big break arrived when their second album Toxicity debuted in America in 2001. After that followed Steal This Album in 2002, the double album Mezmerize/Hypnotize in 2004/2005. Justin Warfield and Adam Bravin (aka DJ Adam 12) make the Los Angeles duo She Wants Revenge and after opening for such acts as The Raveonettes, Moving Units, The Kills, Bloc Party, and OK Go they may actually win the audience and make a name for themselves instead of being called copycats for their group's one-note impression of dark new wave acts like Joy Division, The Cure and Bauhaus. Anyway, I enjoyed this song and what is more important Ilove this video and I hope you will, too.

The Mars Volta is the creative partnership between Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala. In June 2003 their first full-length album De-Loused In The Comatorium was released. That album was a tribute to Julio Venegas who was their mentor and who commited suicide in 1996. The Mars Volta’s second album, Frances The Mute was released in March 2005 and again it was inspired by the memory of their departed friend Jeremy Ward. After these followed "Scabdates" in November 2005 and "Amputecture" in September 2006. The following video is from the album "Frances The Mute" and represents the best from both: video and audio. I highly recommend it.
The Eraser is the first solo album of Thom Yorke (Radiohead). It was released on the independent label XL Recordings in July 2006. This solo project does not mean that he is leaving Radiohead and thank God for that. I personally like this experimental album which is "more beats and electronics..", as Thom Yorke said.
I bet you never considered The Decemberists to be "gangster" and you have never seen them in this light. This is the latest video from the album Crane Wife (which is excellent btw), and is almost 10min long, but don't worry every second is worth the while. The confusion after watching the video is almost guaranteed but I guess that's the way it is supposed to be.

Probably the best video of 2006, but banned on most music channels. Directed by Tony Gardener who also directed Michael Jackson's "Thriller". If you have seen"Little Miss Sunshine" you have one more reason to watch it.
Faithless - BOMBS
This is the latest Faithless video which MTV refused to broadcast and I found million reasons for that, but the main reason is that none wants to see the grim reality of things.
Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy
The notorious video that will go in history as the most controversial of its time. It is a video that you don't forget.
Marilyn Manson - (s)AINT
I am not a Marilyn Manson fan but this video deserved to be on the banned list. Explicit lyrics, nudity, violence, drugs and much more. So, if you are under 18 or you simply do not want to see Mr. Manson pushing the limits I advise you to move on to the other music videos.
A Norwegian duo called Röyksopp and their best video so far. Martin De Thurah is a young Danish director who stands behind this beautiful and haunting mystery.
